Adult Learning Lewisham offer amazing Family Learning courses that promote health, wellbeing and awareness of our environment in a fun, creative and engaging way.

They still have few spaces left for some of their courses that are starting this week and after half term.

Kids’ lunchbox recipes and tips for parents

This course is for parents who want to be adventurous and creative when preparing their children’s lunchboxes. You will explore interesting and cost-effective ways of swapping to healthier choices. Your course tutor will share useful tips on how to prepare and store fruits and vegetables that may encourage children to eat them. You will be guided on how to get your kids involved in choosing and preparing what goes in their lunchbox which will keep them interested and more open to trying new things.

Crafty upcycling for families (primary school age)

Have you been thinking about the environment, reducing waste and conserving resources? Do you like to make things? On this family learning course, you will turn something old into something new, fun and useful! You will be inspired to ‘upcycle’ – the process of taking things that would otherwise be thrown away, and transforming them into new things – you will design and create your very own robot, mask, kaleidoscope, plant container, puppet, and flowers. Your newly learnt skills will encourage creativity and innovation, and you and your child will have fun giving new life to waste materials, while being proud of doing your bit for the environment.

Zen-4-SEN (parent and primary school age child) ONLINE

Your highly-qualified, friendly tutor will introduce you and your child to adapted yoga for children (age 6-11) on the spectrum and its positive benefits in the comfort of your own home. You will work with your child to develop their ability to self-regulate, release tension, fear and frustration. Your online class begins with warm-ups using movement, rhymes and fun games, before progressing to increasing body strength, muscle tone and flexibility by learning asana (postures). Each fulfilling session ends with relaxation techniques using mantras, to help relieve stress.

PARENT AND TODDLER YOGA (10–36 months)

Fascinate and engage your toddler using colourful resources, soft toys, bubbles and textures during this brilliant parent and toddler yoga course. In each friendly session, you and your toddlers will learn animal postures which improve flexibility, muscle tone and body balance, as well as breathing techniques for relaxation. You will sing nursery rhymes along with movements, aiding brain activation and increasing spinal and muscular strength.
