Healthy Eating Week is all about supporting and promoting healthier lifestyles and this years’ theme is Healthy Eating Week – For Everyone!
The cost-of-living crisis continues to have an impact on the affordability of healthier diets for so many of us. With this in mind, for Healthy Eating Week 2023 we’re focusing on providing free, evidence-based advice and support for everyone who wants to find their way to eat a healthier diet regardless of these barriers.
As parents, we want the best for our children, but its not always easy to know what they need to grow or to make healthy family choices. There isn’t only one way to bring up healthy children, and each family is unique and needs to discover what works best for them, but with so much conflicting advice it can be hard to know what to do for the best as a parent, especially in the early years.
But there are some simple principles and strategies we can follow, that will help. Knowing what we want to change is the first step.
All staff in Lewisham Children and Family Centres have been trained in HENRY which is a program to support healthy eating for parents with children under 5 years.
HENRYs vision is ‘that children have a healthy, happy start in life to flourish throughout childhood and beyond.’
