Reducing mobile phone bills and free data for those on certain benefits

Having a mobile phone is no longer a luxury. With many families no longer having a landline to keep in contact with friends and family and needing access to mobile data to apply for benefits and apply for jobs it can quickly become costly, just when you need to be saving money where you can. Several mobile networks and other organisations are offering lower tariffs for those on certain benefits.


Vodafone’s £10 a month ‘VOXI For Now

Relaunching VOXI For Now to help those who need it the most.

If you’re receiving government benefits, VOXI can to give you Unlimited data, calls and texts for £10 a month.

Plus, like all VOXI plans, with unlimited flexibility you can change, pause, or cancel VOXI For Now at anytime.

If you’re eligible, you’ll get all this for six months from the day your VOXI For Now plan starts. Then, after six months, you’ll be switched to the standard £10 a month plan – you’ll still have access to Unlimited Social Media as well as Unlimited calls, texts and flexibility to change, pause, or cancel at anytime.

To get VOXI For Now, you need to be receiving a government benefit, such as:​

  • Jobseeker’s allowance
  • Universal Credit
  • Employment and Support Allowance
  • Disability allowance
  • Personal independence payment

Databank is being rolled out more widely, enabling them to support more people experiencing data poverty.

Someone receiving data through the National Databank must:

  • Be 18+ years old
  • AND be from a low income household

And qualify in one or several of the following statements:

  • Has no access or insufficient access to the internet at home
  • AND/OR has no or insufficient access to the internet when away from the home
  • AND/OR cannot afford their existing monthly contract or top up

A person can have access to data for up to 12 months.
