An update on measles from our Director of Public Health

With measles cases rising in London, Dr Catherine Mbema, our Director of Public Health, has recorded a video explaining why children should have both doses of the safe and effective vaccine. Our MMR (measles vaccine) webpage has more information about measles as well as some answers to frequently-asked questions.

It’s easier than ever to get the vaccine as our local NHS has organised walk-in clinics over the school half term holidays, where children aged 5-16 can be vaccinated. Younger children who have not had their first dose can also be vaccinated at the clinic. Please note that two doses are needed for full protection so, if your child has only had one dose, do consider going along or speak to your GP.

The clinic is taking place at Lewisham Hospital Education Centre, SE13 7LH from 8am to 4.30pm on:

Monday 12 February

Thursday 15 February

Friday 16 February
